Info from Granddaughter Alison J Dunnett nee Willis E-mail: this is so exciting, you are talking about my grandfather, he did indeed die from the effect of being gassed in the first world war,and is buried in Highgate cemetery North London, his grave is next to Karl Marx, I remember going there as a child I was told that he had been buried in a military grave with some other soldiers,, but my gran had his body moved into the family grave at a later date, apparently she had to write to the home secretary at the time , but as I have only just started genealogy I have checked out nothing much I have been looking for him and family members for ages it was almost as though he didn't exist. he married a lady called Alice Ward who I believe came from Southold Suffolk, at least that's what I remember her telling me when I was young, she had a sister Eleanor, aunt Eleanor died in the late 50s in her nineties gran died in 1978 aged 92 and both are buried in Ipswich cemetery Charles and Alice lived in London and at some time in 17 Storey Road Highgate, and had two children, Charles William seagroatt who was born on the 14/11/? I think he was about two years younger than my mother but I haven't checked out the dates on the graves yet so will have to tell you that later, I am not sure of the date of death, but it was approximately 1956. he died in Ipswich Hospital and is buried in Ipswich Suffolk,he never married, he suffered from polio as a child and was paralysed from the waist down although he had a successful business in London at one time and in Marlesford Suffolk, he was a shoemaker and cobbler they used to call it,. my mother was born on the 22/6/1907 and died in London on the 1/11/1964 and is buried there ,but I am not sure where the cemetery is, I do remember the date though, as I was abroad at the time and my brother let me know The Suffolk connection came in because my gran originally came from that area, before she moved to London presumably on marriage to my grandfather, and in 1940 she moved out of London which was being bombed and moved into Bridge House in Marlesford Suffolk with my uncle Bill , Mum and my two brothers, Charles john Willis and Francis David Willis, I was born there in 1941,Alison Josephine Willis my father was Frank Seymour Willis now deceased. I have Four children.and Seven soon to be eight grandchildren, so the Seagroatt blood goes on. and both my brothers are married with families I have only just stared doing the family history and any info I can get would be great , I do intend going down to Suffolk to sort out this part of the family past, and get it all written down off the grave stones, my gran was related to the smythes of Camseash (which is a place near Ipswich,) although she was a Ward before she married, but whether it was my grandfathers brothers or sisters I am not sure.
